As the offseason has fallen upon Long Island, news about more potential buyers are emerging. We have known for some time about Philadelphia based businessman Andrew Barroway and his talks about possibly buying the Isles but Syracuse Crunch owner Howard Dolgon has continued to show interest in purchasing the franchise.

Dolgon has been in talks with aligning some investors to make an official push to purchase the team from current owner Charles Wang. The news out of Syracuse is that Dolgon is close to bringing in the investors and money to possibly make this a reality.

There has also been talks that two other groups have shown interest in buying the Isles. As I have said from the start there are going to be rumors flying around left and right and we need to sift through all the stories to see what is tangible news.

The way I look at this recent news is the more interest the better. Competition is always a good thing and the more offers coming in the easier it may be for this deal to be completed this summer. Therefore, this news out of Syracuse is encouraging.

Next week we will start to dive into the free agent market and potential targets for the Isles. On Monday, we will examine the goaltending situation and who might be the best fit for the Islanders in 2014.
