WESTERN CONFERENCE QUARTERFINALS GAME 2: STARS @ DUCKS
Needing a road win to get a split of the first two games of their Western Conference Quarterfinals series, the Dallas Stars will take on the Anaheim Ducks at the Pond on Friday night. Game time is 9:00 p.m. Central. The match will be televised locally on Fox Sports Southwest, nationally in the U.S. on NBC Sports Network and nationally in Canada on TSN.
On Wednesday night, a disastrous first period and a 4-0 deficit by the midway point of regulation proved too much for the Stars to overcome. Dallas staged a three-goal comeback to cut their deficit to a single goal but was unable to find the equalizer.
Despite the close final score, the Ducks dictated the play for the majority of the game. The Stars were unable to get their speed and transitional games going for long stretches of time, and Anaheim controlled many of the battles down low in the Dallas zone.
The Stars most physical shutdown defenseman, Brenden Dillon, missed Game One and appears likely to miss Game Two as well with a lower-body injury that has rendered him unable to practice. Officially, he remains day-to-day.
Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf, who took a puck to the face on a Tyler Seguin shot late in Game One, is expected to play tonight. Matt Beleskey, one of Anaheim's goal scorers in the first game, is questionable for tonight's match.
Tonight's goaltending matchup, once again, is likely to pit Kari Lehtonen against Frederik Andersen.
