On Colorado and Minnesota...

The Avalanche and Wild are an intriguing pairing to be sure. Here are two teams who haven't seen the second round of the playoffs for years now and one of them will have rot move on. The Avalanche are the story of the year and this is just the tip of the iceberg for this team. Colorado is all the Edmonton should be, but isn't. They are the new NHL. Built on insane speed and youth....but they also have a goalie.

If you were to build a team to be the antidote to these Avs it would probably look a lot like the Minnesota Wild. They remind me very much of the NJ Devils teams who gave skilled Eastern teams trouble for years. The Wild won't be outworked and they have increasingly gotten more and more skilled to go along with that..

The Ek's Factor...

Ilya Bryzgalov. He has the ability to dominate at the most surprising times. If he gets hot the Wild will upset Colorado...that is certain.
