Is anyone in that locker room beating themselves up more than Frans Nielsen? He is always soft spoken in interviews, but this one is different.

Perhaps it's the fact that he is getting married this summer, he is turning 30 on Thursday the 24th and he has been a part of the Isles organization since being drafted in 2002. Twelve years is a long time.

He began playing on the Isles in 2006. He played 15 games with the main club and 54 in Bridgeport. He did almost the same in 2007-2008, and landed a permanent spot in 2008-2009. But this season, his stats show in 80 games, he had the highest point total of his career; 58. Never mind that he is a -11. That wouldn't be the case if shoot-outs counted. He missed only two games this season with a broken hand and for the first time ever, was fined $5,000 by the NHL.

Yes, it's been quite the year for Frans Nielsen. But the disappointment of not being in the post season is weighing heavily on him. He vows to do better.

I have a feeling he will.
