Source: More than one bidder if the Islanders go on the market |

There have been several rumors swirling around the Islanders the past few days, but know this...No one who REALLY wants to buy this team will say a word about that desire until it's pretty much done because that is how the NHL demands it. The NHL has sort of a "Balsillie Rule" in place that doesn't allow leaks of any kind when it comes to the buying and selling of franchises. It is simply not permitted and anyone who has made their wishes known to the NHL has been told this and essentially told they are signing an NDA in blood. If they slip they will be Balsillied.
The interesting thing about all of this is there are no less than 7 investors or groups of investors the NHL is in communication with. Several ex players are parts of these groups. The NHL prefers single investor entities like Pegula, but there are only so many billionaires around.
The NHL also has another secret rule, or so I have been told, that anyone buying a franchise must leave the franchise in the current market for 7 years.
So any quotes from any potential Islanders buyers should be pretty much ignored...or parsed through the knowledge of this...
more to come..
