The case for Cory Conacher

Before any of the trade deadline day gets started, the name Cory Conacher has been frequent. He's on waivers, but many believe that the Sabres will grab him. Just because he played at Canisuis doesn't mean he's a perfect fit to come here.

I'm not against giving him a shot on this this team, but I do want to make sure everyone knows a little more about him before rooting for the Sabres to claim him.

Conacher is a talented 24-year-old left winger, but he hasn't put up huge numbers. He's very young and has potential to become a great point producer.

When he came into the league with the Lightning, he was, well...electric, at least more than he is now for Ottawa. Conacher put up 24 points in 35 games, but since he's been with the Senators, he hasn't been able to match the success.

Between the past two seasons, Conacher has 25 points in 72 games. He has struggled in 60 games this season, and there's one person in the Sabres' organization who probably knows that - Tim Murray.

Murray watched Conacher when he was in Ottawa, so keep that in mind. It would be neat to give Conacher a shot on this rebuilding team despite his struggles, but would Buffalo be willing to bring him in?

I hope that doesn't sound contradicting. I'd like to see Conacher become a Sabre, but we'll see how Murray feels after watching the forward play in Ottawa. I'd rather have Conacher than some of the players in the Sabres lineup...

Incase you missed it, I put together a Ryan Miller highlight video. I think you'll like it:

I'll be opening up a live chat again for deadline day and will be updating the blog with any Sabres news that goes down. I can see a handful of trades being made by Buffalo. We're not in the days of Darcy Regier anymore. Let's see what Murray can pull off.

As always, thank you for reading!
