Update 5:15 pm: Well, it seems that JT will be evaluated with an MRI on Thursday but the preliminary reports are "it isn't good."

Just what we want to hear. I knew something would happen to him.

Update: 3 pm The word is that John Tavares has suffered a knee injury and is done for the tournament for Canada. There is no word yet as to when he will be coming home for further evaluation or how long he will be out.

If there could be anything worse for the Islanders with Frans Nielsen out for more than a month, I don't know what there could be.

This is why star players on teams that are desperate should NOT be allowed to go play in the Olympics.

The rest of the team was at Iceworks today for their first practice since the Olympic break. Many forwards were missing, so Jack played the following lines: Bailey, Nelson, Okposo (Maybe this is why it's a good thing Kyle didn't go), McDonald-Cizikas-Clutterbuck; Boulton, Carkner, Martinek.

Ugh. Scary.

1:30 pm: Imagine my fear when I read Mark Herrmann's tweet that John Tavares left the bench for Team Canada after a hit by Arturs Kulda in the second period of the game betwee Canada and Latvia.
Hit on Tavares on Twitpic

Team USA is beating the Czech 4-1 after two, but Canada and Ted Nolan's Latvia are tied at 1 each after the second.

Just wondering if this is some sort of Nolan retribution on the Isles?

Just a thought.
