Per CBC's Elliotte Friedman, Team Canada has opted to start Canadiens goalie Carey Price in the tournament opener against Norway on Thursday, while Roberto Luongo will get the start on Friday against Austria.

The two goalies splitting the opening two games has been expected for weeks, but the Luongo, who won gold in 2010 and participates in his third Olympic games was expected to get the initial start.

Conventional wisdom has been that coach Mike Babcock and his coaching staff would evaluate the two goaltenders this weekend after the back-to-back games and start their go-to guy against Finland on Sunday. This decision may be a sign that Price has had the inside track all along to be Canada's primary goalie for the remainder of the tournament.

In the women’s pool, Team Canada scored a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Team USA on Wednesday morning.

The Americans took a 1-0 lead into the third period, as Hilary Knight scored a power play goal late in the second, but the Canadians responded with the tying and go-ahead goals from Meghan Agosta-Marciano and Hayley Wickenheiser 1:33 apart.

Wickenheiser’s goal was disputed, as the puck drifted through the pads of US goalie Jessie Vetter and into the net, but replay showed that the whistle had blown before the puck entered the net.

Agosta’s second goal of the game gave Canada a commanding 3-1 lead, but the US narrowed the gap to 3-2 as Anne Schleper scored with 1:05 remaining in regulation with Vetter pulled.
