The Ducks Are Good

Let me start off with this one fact. The Anaheim Ducks are a damn good hockey team. There aren’t a lot of hockey teams that spot a home team two goals on the first two shots and live to tell the tale… let alone come back to win the game, but that is exactly what Anaheim did last night, erasing 2-0 and 3-2 deficits to post a 4-3 win over a scrappy Predators team.

When you see stats like that, the temptation is to say that you should never… EVER, blow a two goal lead, and I can understand why some folks would say that, but last night it was more of a case of a talented team exerting it’s will. Nashville played well… frankly, well enough to win… but Anaheim is the best team in the league right now, the best team in the league that is on a roll. You could say that the Ducks have almost as many injuries to key players as San Jose, but they are reacting to their injuries very differently.

A little controversy at the end of the game when it appeared that Anaheim goaltender removed the net from its moorings. Patten Fuqua has an interesting take on it in his column on The Predatorial.

The Predators continue their homestand with a rare weekend of back-to-back home games on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday against Ottawa and Sunday against Minnesota… both games have special start times, 6pm.

Random Notes…

- Filip Forsberg has been sent down to Milwaukee… good move IMHO. Forsberg needs to developed… Milwaukee can do this for him.

- Reports out of Russia have Alexander Radulov with a concussion and doubtful for the Olympics.

- With their loss last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs have fallen out of playoff position. In other news, strychnine sales are soaring in Canada’s largest city.

- Six games tonight, 6pm starts – Stars @ Rangers, Maple Leafs @ Capitals, Hurricanes @ Blue Jackets. 8pm start – Islanders @ Avalanche. 9pm starts – Penguins @ Oilers, Blues @ Canucks.
