On Evander Kane...
He is not on the ice and there are some serious rumors out there surrounding him. Buffalo, Vancouver and Chicago are among the teams I have heard already today...while this may be just to heal some wounds these rumors need to be addressed by the team...in my opinion...The uncertainty is not helping them at all right now
On the Rangers...
I am in the same court with the many out there who say that the Rangers have no intention of trading Dan Girardi, despite his pending UFA status. Most sources I have talked to agreed with this until this morning when I was informed the Rangers would consider moving Girardi in a package to get Dustin Byfuglien.
"The Rangers are very, very high on Buff," the source said, "Dustin would definitely cause a shift in the plan. And he is looking more and more available all the time."
On Byfuglien...
The Bruins, Devils and Flyers also will be in on Dustin. He is a very intriguing player...and one I would have put on the USA Olympic team because he can be such a game changer.
On the Leafs...
More talk about their desire to trade for O'Reilly and after last night's performance the clock appears to be ticking towards change. Nonis is always patient and hates to deal from a position of weakness and I was told that "right now all the bargain hunters are out to see if his frustration level means he could make a deal just to make a change." Nonis is from the same school as Brian Burke when it comes to this. You'd have a better chance making a trade when the Leafs are winning then when they are losing.
On the Jets....
Before the other rumors came down I was close to writing a blog called, "What the heck is wrong with the Jets?" Things aren't looking good right now, but honestly this might be a case of "you aren't as good as you think you are when you are always winning and you aren't as bad as you think you are when you are losing." Yet Byfuglien, Kane, and now Andrew Ladd is in rumors. I have heard Ladd tied to Washington and Nashville.
On Erat...
He was a scratch last night, and I have heard a few rumors today linking him to the Kings or a possible return to Nashville.
On the Preds...
It sounds like we are about to get some major news about Pekka Rinne. Sources tell me he is making progress and taking the next steps. Will be increasing workload, and while there is no timetable yet for a return, these are very encouraging steps. Nashville has struggled, but when you consider the amount of games missed due to injury it is remarkable how they have managed to stay competitive. They could be a team to watch in the second half.
