Got A Point There

You can look at the Hawks weekend in one of two ways: the positive, where they took 3 out of 4 points in back-to-back games against top divisional foes, or the negative, where they let an important point (literally and figuratively) slip away against the St. Louis Blues.

I'm going to say "both."

3 out of 4 against Colorado and St. Louis, back to back and home and away is pretty satisfactory. But the Hawks remain winless against St. Louis this season and the last thing you want to give a young, very talented and previously immature Blues team is more confidence.

The truth is, the Blues now think they can go out and beat the Hawks (even without a couple of their better players—like last night). The Hawks have to be starting to wonder if the Blues have their number.

The Hawks will get their chance in the regular season to set a different tone. But the Blues have to be encouraged by the results thus far.

WORLD JUNIOR UPDATE

2013 1st Round draft pick Ryan Hartman had a goal and an assist in the U.S. win over Slovakia yesterday, and Vince Hinostroza lit up Germany for 2 goals and 2 assists today.

ALL HAIL FREDDY

Marcus Kruger went 8-3 in the faceoff dot last night and sits near the league lead at 57.1%. This from a player who had been in the low 40's for his brief career prior to this season. At this point, 41 games into the season, Kruger's improvement at draws has to be seen as real, as opposed to a brief aberration. Kruger also has 4 goals and 12 assists and is +4.

All for now,

JJ
