I’m not sure what will come first; I get over this nagging cold or the Islanders win a game. The Isles travel to the garden tonight to face off with the Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Evgeni Nabokov will make his third straight start in net and since returning from injured reserve he has looked outstanding.

Casey Cizikas will return to the lineup after recovering from a jaw injury and on the blue line Matt Carkner will get the start. Peter Regin and Aaron Ness will be the healthy scratches tonight. The Islanders clearly need a win in the worse way and why not tonight against their rivals? I could probably write seven pages on why they won’t win tonight but instead let us look at the reason why they can win at Madison Square Garden.

Perhaps it’s the copious amount of Sudafed that I am on but the Islanders need to shock us and win at some point; right? The second line at least is showing signs of life in the offensive end as Michael Grabner and Frans Nielsen played their best game in a long time Tuesday night. At some point all the chances, the missed passes, the crossbars and posts have to go in. I feel like I’m begging at this point for a win but at some point the law of average has to correct itself. The Rangers have not been lighting the world on fire either so at some point something has to give. Why not tonight?

Before I conclude I want to announce that I will be helping my friend Lisa Berlinski in an amazing fundraiser that involves the NHL. Next April Lisa will be running in the 2014 Boston Marathon and she has just started raising money for a great cause; the Boston Bruins Foundation.

This is where I need help from the most generous fans in all of sports. I have enclosed the links below where you can learn more about the charity and make a donation to this amazing cause. In early 2014 I will also be hosting an online silent auction with some amazing NHL memorabilia that we will auction off so we can shatter Lisa’s goal and show support for an amazing city and an amazing charity. I ask that you please consider any donation.

I know NHL fans have the biggest hearts in the world so that is why I jumped at the chance to align myself with this fundraising effort. As we get closer to the auction I will provide a link with all the amazing items up for bid. For more on this and all thing hockey follow me on Twitter and Instagram at @DanDanNoodles78
