On a night where the Rangers had another listless performance, I am sure I will have lots more to say tomorrow, but as now, two separate items stand out.

First, the captain Ryan Callahan will miss 4-6 weeks with a Grade 2 sprained left MCL suffered in the first period of the team's 4-1 loss. It's something we have said before and given this latest injury, it's an item that will be discussed over and over again, what to do with Callahan when he becomes a free agent? Can you give him Dustin Brown or Ryan Kesler money knowing that his style of play, propensity for injury will cost him 20 games a season? When you combine that with his inability to score and belief by many that he is top-nine and not top-six player, is he worth upwards of $5 mil per season? With Callahan out the JT Miller Hartford to New York shuttle will likely make another run, this time, one in which he gets a chance at top-six minutes.

Second, coach Alain Vigneault said the following after the game: "I've got an idea on how I'd like (this team) to play. Not quite sure we have the personnel to play the type of game I'd like to play." Here's a hint coach Vigneault, you are paid to utilize the current talent on your roster, which means, find a system or way to meld the players into your system to maximize the talent they have. In addition, you were part of this team when it was constructed this offseason, so you knew what you were getting into. In addition, the Rangers wanted to move on from what was viewed as a boring style on the ice, how has that worked out so far? It's gotten so bad, that John Tortorella's daughter is mocking the team: BrittanyKellen: NYR and MSG … You got want you want right? Hopefully you find some identity."

With Callahan and Marc Staal out along with the rest of the team struggling, it's possible that a tear down could and probably should occur. But with the Knicks making the a Rangers look good and James Dolan wanting the playoff revenue, don't hold your breath for that remake to occur anytime soon. Dolan got his remake when the Garden was renovated, why should he care about the dismal production and performance on the ice.
