Jagr, Brodeur Lead Devils Past Rival Penguins

For the fifth time over their last six games, the New Jersey Devils' efforts led to at least one point.

That was the case again on Saturday as they beat the Metropolitan leading Pittsburgh Penguins to the tune of 4-1.

Adam Larsson scored his first goal of the season, which was the eventual game-winner, while Andy Greene and Jaromir Jagr (2) also found the back of the net.

Some notes:

- Martin Brodeur stopped 27-28 in the winning effort. It was Brodeur's sixth win over his last seven starts and he's allowed only eight goals in that span. Not only that, but he's also recorded two shutouts during that stretch and has stopped 138 of the last 143 overall. That's a .965 save percentage.

- How about that Jagr fellow? The future Hall of Famer has recorded 13 points in his last 13 games and is now just 19 points behind Mario Lemieux for 7th all-time in points. To this point Jagr's been all that Lou Lamoriello could have hoped for and more. Hopefully he can hold up for the rest of the year because the Devils need his offense.

- There's still work to be done, but I think it's safe to say the Devils have turned the corner. They're 6-3-1 over their last 10 games and are now just one point out of a playoff spot. They've played some pretty good teams, too, and you could make good arguments that they were the better team against Toronto and Los Angeles - two games they failed to win.

- How nice was it to see Adam Larsson score last night? His first few years in the league have been quite rough at times but he seems to be trending in the right direction. Larsson's goal last night was his first career regular season game-winner and was his first goals since 2011.

- Travis Zajac is lighting it up, but he's been better of late, too. He's been driving play against ridiculously tough competition and has been producing more offensively as well. No. 19 has points in three of his last four.

- Pete Harrold played just less than 20 minutes last night. Another shift and he would have had it. Maybe next time.
