Listen to the HockeyBuzzcast at 6pm with myself, Garth and Mike Augello:
Hearing that Jonathan Quick's lower-body injury could be the type to keep him out of the lineup for an extended period of time.
Also, the Sabres have called a press conference for 10:30 A.M. with an announcement that GM Darcy Regier and coach Ron Rolston have been fired. Pat LaFontaine is the new director of hockey operations and Ted Nolan is back in Buffalo as head coach.
It is very interesting that the Sabres are starting off a new era without an official general manager or an interim head coach, with a new GM subsequently handpicking his own guy. However, Ted Nolan is a solid choice because he has history with the organization and he's been a pretty good NHL coach in the past and has also gotten teams to overachieve in international hockey (which is why he's still slated to coach Latvia in the Olympics).
In terms of a new GM choice, in my opinion, Rick Dudley would be the smart play here, but I don't know which way the organization is actually leaning.
