While the team prepares to face the Dallas Stars this evening, as anticipated, Jordin Tootoo cleared waivers after being placed on the waiver wire yesterday by the Detroit Red Wings.

Currently, Ken Holland has stated Tootoo will remain with Detroit for the time being. However, the expectation is eventually once Jonathan Ericsson returns to the lineup as expected next Friday, November 15th, Tootoo will be sent down to Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League. The Red Wings have 10 games/30 days to send him to minors for $925,000 in cap relief.

Meanwhile, Adam Alquist is expected to play alongside Kyle Quincey, with both Ericsson and Brendan Smith out with shoulder injuries. Jonas Gustavsson is expected to be back in the line-up serving as Jimmy Howard's back-up, while Johan Franzen will once again remain out of the line-up with a mysterious illness.

As per Mike Babcock, "Not sure what the problem is there."

Certainly not a good sign if the club is choosing to remain very tight-lipped on Franzen's issue. Considering he skated for a short time yesterday before stopping and talking to trainers on the bench leads you to suspect perhaps his "situation" is more serious than the Red Wings first insinuated late last week.

Stay tuned!
