Vote on Downie Deal

You don't have to be a math major to understand the overwhelming majority of Flyers fans/followers absolutely detest the Steve Downie deal.

Not that Max Talbot was ever an "untouchable" as an NHL player but because this appears, on the surface, to be another one of those "same as always" trades the FLyers make to bring someone back from the past.

Put it another way ... the so-called "change in culture" is really "same culture as always," with this deal.

My take? If Downie can get Claude Giroux going AND change the Flyers mentality from scared to confident in the third period, it's a win.

Alas, all these deals to bring back ex-Flyers historically, have not panned out and Talbot is the club's top PK guy.

Al Morganti said this, "What does it say if you have to go out and get Steve Downie to get Claude Giroux going?"

No wonder season ticket holders are angry. I can see it.

GM Paul Holmgren has likely put his job on the line at this point with this move. And if this is the only move coming, it's likely not enough to turn things around.

So our poll question: "Like" or "Dislike" this trade?
