As the calendar turns to a new month the St. Louis Blues will welcome their first new face to the lineup.

Forward Chris Porter has been recalled from the Chicago Wolves.

The 29 year of North Dakota product was the last player cut from training camp and has spent the 2013-14 season to date in the AHL despite agreeing to a two year, one way contract this past summer. Through seven games he has registered four assists.

The transaction was necessary due to injuries sustained over the last two games.

Winger Magnus Paajarvi was placed on Injured Reserve retroactive to Saturday, October 26th. He is unavailable for at least the game against Florida on Friday because of an upper body injury stemming from a hit in Nashville.

Veteran Brenden Morrow stayed home to nurse bumps and bruises while the rest of the team left for the sunshine state on Thursday. The hope is that he can rejoin the club after their swing through the southern US in Montreal on Tuesday, November 7th.

Even with the return of Max Lapierre, who sat out the last five games due to a suspension, reinforcements were needed as the Blues go on a five day road trip before coming home on November 7th. They did not want to be caught short handed while their system teems with players capable of taking shifts in the NHL.

It could only be for one game, but the fan loved CPR Line could return. That's the fourth line that was a wrecking ball through the end of the 2012-13 season and arguably the best line Ken Hitchcock had in the six game series against Los Angeles. Whether or not Porter is reunited with Ryan Reaves and Adam Cracknell it's good to see him back with the Blues.

Based on the lines used recently and the changes to the roster made, the forward lines may look something like:

Steen - Backes - Oshie
Sobotka - Roy - Stewart
Schwartz - Berglund - Tarasenko
Cracknell - Lapierre - Reaves

For those of you looking for a fantasy angle in to the injuries and recall... There really isn't much of one. Morrow and Paajarvi were not seeing significant ice time and only warranted ownership in the deepest of leagues. That said, Vladimir Sobotka has been as steady a producer as the Blues have had not on the Backes line. With the shuffling of late he's been seeing a bit more power play time and has taken most of his shifts on lines more capable of scoring than he has in the past and was projected to this season. He has two goals and six points in 10 games. Jaden Schwartz also falls in to the same category.

Are the Blues interested in Miller, Vanek?
