Ducks Win but Lose Teemu Selanne for Two Weeks.

The Anaheim Ducks current road trip started with two consecutive losses. Since then the Ducks have rattled off three straight wins with three games left on the season high eight-game road trip.

On Tuesday night, Anaheim rallied from a two goal deficit to knock off the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2. Kyle Palmieri scored the tying and winning goals to help Anaheim earn the 'W' and remain one of the hottest teams in the NHL.

It was Palmieri's second and third goals of the season and Andrew Cogliano notched his second of the season to cut the Ducks deficit in half and get the comeback rolling.

Jonas Hiller made 26 saves in the win and improved his personal record to 5-2 on the year.

With the win, Anaheim improved to 3-2-0 on the trip. It was also the Ducks' tenth win in their first thirteen games. Anaheim's 20 points is just one behind the San Jose Sharks for first overall in the NHL and the Pacific.

Alas, as the victories pile up, so too do the injuries.

The great and powerful OZ...er, Teemu Selanne was hit in the mouth with Luke Schenn's flying stick of death in the third period. The impact knocked Selanne to the ice and left the Finnish Flash woozy and toothless. Selanne didn't return to the game and nearly gave me a heart attack in the meantime. There was no penalty called on the play and rightfully so because it was obviously an accident.

The Ducks said Selanne 'suffered damage to his upper mouth" which required oral surgery. Besides losing his teeth, Selanne needed 40 stitches to repair the damage.

The Ducks were quick to tweet an update to their fans last night....

and an update from today...

Selanne out for two weeks? That is a shame for all those fans in the East that bought tickets hoping to see the 43-year-old one last time.

Am I the only one that think's Anaheim;s injury problem has manifested into an epidemic? How many more will be hurt on this road trip and can the team keep winning in spite of the casualties?

Here is the Ducks injured player list, if you're keeping track at home...

1. Jakob Silfverberg
2. Dustin Penner
3. Saku Koivu
4. Matt Beleksey
6. Viktor Fasth
6. Luca Sbisa
7. Sheldon Souray

and No. 8 makes, well, number eight.

When will this madness stop? By the time the Ducks make it back to Anaheim they might have to hold an open tryout just to fill roster spots.

- The Ducks went o for 2 last night on the power play. The NHL's worst pp unit has just one power play goal on the first five game of this trip (1 for 19). I am starting to see many of the Ducks faithful bemoan the man advantage. This team is good and has some very effective power play producers. At some point they have to break out of this funk. Eventually, the finger has to be pointed at the bench.

Off to Boston!
