Some notes:
- Martin Brodeur hasn't had one quality start this season. Now would be a good time to get one as the Devils are in desperate need of a win. If Brodeur doesn't play well, the Devils won't win. It's as simple as that.
- The Elias - Loktionov - Jagr line was very good against the Canucks and will be looked upon to lead the way offensively again today. The Bruins are a slowish team compared to some others in the conference, so this line and the rest of the Devils team should be able to skate with them.
- The Devils have scored a power play goal in four consecutive games. They've struggled to fill the net during 5 v. 5 play, so if they could generate a goal or two on the power play it'd be huge.
- New Jersey's penalty kill has been excellent of late as they've killed off 13 of their last 14 (92.9%) over a five-game span.
- One key for the Devils: scoring the first goal. They've lost all seven games on the road this season and if they fall behind a team as strong defensively as the Bruins, they could be in trouble.
- Gelinas and Larsson were outstanding against the Canucks, but the Devils had last change so they weren't deployed against top competition. Pete DeBoer will have a much tougher time getting the matchups he wants tonight, so they may find themselves going head-to-head with the Bruins top two lines more often than not.
If they can be anywhere close to as good as they were against Vancouver, the Devils should be OK.
