The New York Islanders have just announced the late signing of defenseman Radek Martinek to a one year, $600,000 contract. The 37-year-old D man has been skating with the team all along and will help address the veteran presence hole while Visnovsky recovers from his concussion.

That is of course if Martinek doesn't get hurt.
