Repeating an increasingly more painful theme in this young season (well, it's now 10% over), the Blackhawks again squandered a third period lead.
This time, against the Florida Panthers, and on a horrible sheet of ice, the Hawks were able to pull it out in the shootout.
Chicago is 6-1-2—a very nice record—but with too many games going to OT, either because the Hawks lost a lead late and/or weren't able to score more than two goals in regulation.
But that's the sorta, kinda, not too terribly bad news.
The good news? Jonathan Toews had a big night with goals in the shootout and regulation. Bryan Bickell had his second straight game with a goal. Patrick Sharp, Marian Hossa and Brandon Saad were all flying and dangerous tonight.
The Hawks went 56-44%in the faceoff dot with Toews dominating, scored a power play goal and killed off the lone Panther penalty.
The challenge gets a bit tougher Thursday night, when the Hawks cross the state of Florida to face a pretty tough Lightning team. I'll be back before that game with a preview.
All for now,
JJ
