The Calgary Flames will take on the New Jersey Devils later tonight for their 5th game of the season.
With a strong start to the season so far, the team will look to extend their current record of 2-0-2 and continue to impress the league with their hard work. Rookies Sean Monahan and Sven Baertschi will take to the ice once again and try and impress the Flames brass as they continue with their strong play.
As mentioned in previous blogs, Flames netminder Joey MacDonald will get the start over Karri Ramo once again which continues to upset fans despite his very strong play.
“As long as he plays like this, he makes it easy,” said Hartley. “When you see a goalie play like that, life is easy. In Colorado, I never had a sleepless night with a goalie like Patrick Roy.”
I think fans are going to have to get over the fact that Ramo is not playing because quite frankly, MacDonald is providing the team with some good steady goaltending.
Speaking of which, the Devils are expected to start Martin Brodeur who has been doing, well, just okay in terms of tending the net. Recently acquired Cory Schneider will get the night off tonight as the Devils may appear to, like may other teams so far, be taking the Flames too lightly. This is likely the last time that Flames fans will get the chance to see Brodeur in net for the Devils as the 41 year old is on the verge of retiring.
Although the Flames have called up Blair Jones due to an injury to David Jones during their last game, it will be Tim Jackman who will take to the ice tonight. Below are the expected lines for tonight.

Aside from the game preview, and for those who don’t follow me on twitter, I have to comment on this whole Joe Thornton media fiasco. Give me a break folks. There is nothing here to report and make a scene about!
The way people were talking about it I thought he made some obscene or tasteless comment. It wasn’t anywhere as bad as folks were making it out to be and it should have never left the change room. Whoever reported it likely lost the respect of those around the room at the time. Tsk tsk.
Anyways, that’s all for today folks. Thanks for reading!
