Quick hit today as news from Sunrise is Scott Clemmensen has been waived. Tim Thomas and Jacob Markstrom will begin the season as the goaltending duo that is certainly the epitome of youth and wisdom.

Thomas impressed immediately after arriving in South Florida on a try out basis. For now, he has won the starting job, and he will be a great mentor to Markstrom before he takes over as the #1 next season.

So the question is...does Tim Thomas make the Panthers better between the pipes? He says he is refreshed, and he was at the top of his game the last time he played two years ago. But is two years removed and a 39-year-old body too much to overcome on a consistent basis?

The track record is there. The talent is there. The faith in him from the coaching staff is there. He says he is impressed with the lineup in front of him. Is that enough to succeed?

So many questions. Many of which will be answered tomorrow night in Dallas.

Are the Panthers' chances of making the playoffs now better with Thomas at the helm?

As always, your comments and input are appreciated.
