The New Jersey Devils have moved out another body in their efforts to get down to a 23-man roster.

The team announced they've traded Krys Barch and a 7th round pick in 2015 to Florida for Scott Timmins and a 6th round pick in 2014.

Barch, 33, was on a one-way contract which may have factored into the decision to move him. Lou Lamoriello said he didn't want a player on a one-way deal playing in Albany and this move helps prevent that from happening.

This move bodes very well for Cam Janssen if the Devils decide to keep an enforcer on the roster, because he's the only one left in camp. He's also on a two-way deal so the Devils can call him up or send him down at any time.

I think the Devils did a good job on getting the return they did for Barch. Timmins is a 24-year-old two-way center who does have some NHL experience. He'll never be anything more than a bottom-6 guy, but he adds more depth to the organization.

Pete DeBoer coached Timmins for two years during his days coaching with the Kitchener Rangers so he knows what he's getting.

The Devils also upgraded from a 7th rounder in 2015 to a 6th rounder in 2014. Lou Lamoriello may need to get that pick back at some point, though, as Jeremy Brodeur is draft eligible in 2015.

Overall I thought the Devils did well in this trade. They added depth and another draft pick in 2014 for Barch, who they didn't plan on using.
