Update: Armia has a broken hand

This is not good news for Armia and the Sabres. He broke his hand last night in Columbus and will be out indefinitely. The injury could allow someone else to take a roster spot. Such tough news for the kid.

It was nice to see Jhonas Enroth get a shutout last night. Enroth stopped all 26 shots he faced, 13 of them shorthanded.

A few notes the Sabres sent out after the game:

- The Sabres killed off all seven Columbus power plays, improving to a perfect 16-for-16 on the penalty kill at home and 25-for-27 (.926) overall in the preseason.

- The Sabres haven’t lost a preseason home game in regulation since Sept. 21, 2007; they’ve gotten at least a point in their last 12, going 9-0-3 in those games and outscoring their opponents, 42-25.

The Sabres have looked good this preseason and it is raising more questions as regards to who will earn a spot.

Buffalo signed Nikita Zadorov to a 3 year entry level contract and many are wondering if he has worked his way to a spot on the team.

Many are expecting Buffalo to have a horrendous year, but I keep saying that they are going to be better than most people think. Especially with the young talent coming in from Zadorov, Grigorenko and Girgensons to name a few, the Sabres are going to start scoring soon.

I’m not saying the playoffs are going to happen for Buffalo, but I don’t expect a last place finish, either. I’m excited for Larsson and Pysyk to start playing full time, and I don’t think we’re too far away from that happening.

Just one preseason game remaining and we’re six days away from Buffalo’s opener vs. Detroit. There’s still no captain so I expect that news to be announced by early next week at the latest.

-EA sports did their annual season simulation and have the St. Louis Blues defeating the Penguins in six games to in the Cup. It’s just a simulation and it doesn’t mean much, being that anybody can do one. However, I wouldn’t mind seeing the Blues win it all.

Even though the season is less than a week away, I’m still not sure what the lines are going to look like or who will captain this team. It’s going to be interesting because there are a few guys who deserve to make it and they are not going to.

Also, the Corey Tropp injury could have been a lot worse. If a broken jaw is all he has, consider him lucky. I’m a big fan of Tropp and I’m rooting for him to play full time, but he keeps getting injured. He continues to come back, but has just been unable to see NHL action for a good span. Hopefully, he’s able to do that this season.

The Sabres will finish off their preseason tomorrow night in Carolina.
John Scott will be on The Fan (Toronto radio) at 12:15 p.m.today. That might be worth listening to.

As always, thank you for reading!
