Updated 8:20pm:

Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Clarkson has been suspended 10 regular-season games without pay for leaving the bench to take part in a fight. He receives the same sentence as @BizNasty2point0. Its a flat-rate, non-negotiable suspensions. Clarkson left the bench to join a fracas, therefore he must pay a serious price.

At 10:01 of the third period, Clarkson was assessed a game misconduct penalty under Rule 70.6, which states: "A game misconduct penalty shall be imposed on the player who was the first or second player to leave the players' or penalty bench during an altercation or for the purpose of starting an altercation, from either or both teams."

The suspension is mandated by Rule 70.10, which states: "The first player to leave the players' or penalty bench illegally during an altercation or for the purpose of starting an altercation from either or both teams shall be suspended without pay for the next 10 regular League and/or playoff games of his team."

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Clarkson will forfeit $269,230.80. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Clarkson will be eligible to return to the Maple Leafs' lineup on Oct. 25 at Columbus

The 6'1" 200 lb. right winger disregarded the rules and charged off the Leafs bench to defend Phil Kessel during the Gong how In Toronto.

The Cody Hodgson for Zack Kassian trade is looking better for the Buffalo Sabres by the day.

The former Sabres forward has been slapped with an eight game suspension by Brendan Shanahan for his high stick to the face of Oilers forward Sam Gagner on Saturday night.

Gagner suffered a broken jaw as a result of Kassian's carelessness.

Kassian will have to sit out the final three Canucks preseason games. He will also be suspended for the first five Vancouver regular season games.

Who will ride shotgun with the Sedin twins while Kassian is serving his Shanaban?

Canucks forward Dale Weise was also suspended for three exhibition games.

John Tortarella must be thrilled.

We'll know more about the suspensions to David Clarkson and Phil Kessel on Tuesday.

Clarkson will get 10 automatically for leaving the bench to join an altercation on Sunday night vs. Buffalo.

Kessel was given a match penalty for his vicious two handers that he swung at Sabres forward John Scott. He will be suspended, for how many games exactly is still unknown. Thats up to Brendan Shanahan.

If the Maple Leafs are looking for an apology from Ron Rolston and his Buffalo Sabres for the donnybrook in Toronto, they've got another thing coming.

John Scott met the media after Monday's practice on Buffalo.

He's not backing down. He defends his actions from Sunday night.

Thanks, Sabres.com

Steve Ott didn't get to partake on the scrap, however, he liked what he saw from his teammates.

Ryan Miller liked his first pro goalie fight.
