My Top 5 Tonight

Here are my five favorite Sabres tonight:

Girgensons: Can the Sabres please dispense with all the formality and tell the Latvian Locomotive to call U-Haul to have all of his personal belongings delivered to his new permanent home in Buffalo? Seriously. This kid has earned a roster spot in Buffalo, in my opinion. He's contributing all over the ice tonight. He created two huge turnovers in the first period that led to chances for the Sabres. He's finishing his checks, owning the puck on PK, getting under the skin of the Leafs, he's tough as nails and mature beyond his 19 years.

McCormick: Darcy Regier should tell McCormick tonight that he's Buffalo bound for this season. Cody has been on eof Buffalo's top three players tonight. He knocked the snot out of young Broll with a piston shot to the jaw. He's won loose pucks, gotten pucks deep, won wall battles and has killed penalties.

Foligno: I spent time talking with Marcus at Riverside Rink in early August. I asked him how much weight he lost because looked so lean. none, he told me. H converted mass to 10 additional pounds of muscle by working out like a beast this summer. he's now playing at 6'3 227lbs. he's bigger and faster and simply will not allow opponents to knock him off fo pucks. His skating is so much more fluent and powerful. He scored in the second period, and now has 3 goals in the preseason. Marcus is on his way to a 20 goals season. Just watch and see.

Ristolainen: Its clear to my eyes that Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle wrote Rasmus Ristolainen's name on the Leafs' dry-erase board as a key to tonight's game. Risto has gotten his fair share of hard hits and is being targeted by the Leafs. all he does is keep palying and its frustrating the Leafs. he busted up a 2 on 1 with relative ease because his stick and body were in perfect position. He was cooler than the other side of the pillow. Like Girgensons and Larsson, its time for Regier to tell these three kids to find housing in Buffalo because they aren't going anywhere near Rochester.

Pysyk: Scored his first goal of the preseason and has added an assist. i swear, this kid is developing into Scott Niedermayer clone. His skating is exquisite, as is his ability to think the game. He pinches at the right time and he stays home when he has to. He's always in position. In my opinion, he's earned a Buffalo roster spot. Waive Sulzer and/or McBain to make room for Pysyk and Ristolainen
