Alex Pietrangelo signed a seven-year $45.5 million deal ($6.5 million annual cap hit) and will be in camp tomorrow. Fun times in St Louis and I think it's a great deal for all.

Like I said in the video posted below and then in the comments from yesterday's blog, he's earned this payday and it was just a matter of closing the gap. The Blues were asking him to give up prime UFA years and for a player like Pietrangelo, that wasn't going to come cheap. I'll be interested to know how the actual salary works out over the length of the deal and what the no-trade/move clause looks like.

Bob McElligot and I chat about Kadri's new contract, Pietrangelo holding out, Burke in Calgary, Rookie Camps and if Edmonton will make the playoffs on this week's episode of PuckNation.
