Wed: 12:46 pm: The new Barclay's Center is quite beautiful and as Yormark and Ratner like to call it "intimate." There is nothing wrong with the sight lines in the upper arena for at least 2/3's of it. It is beautiful, it is clean, it is well kept and modern.

It is what should have been built in Uniondale, but it is not.

You will see many, MANY stories about today's event from MANY different outlets. They truly did media day the right way here. There will be so many sound bites on so many News reports today that you will get dizzy.

But from an Islanders' fan point of view, the questions of 'colors' and owndership will remain primarily the same. Brooklyn will be incorporated, but it will still belong to the devout, the die-hards, the long suffering.

More later along with photos.

The New York Islanders are starting off this season in grand fashion by hosting the first NHL training camp and media day ever at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

Press conferences, photo opportunities, Q&A sessions and a free train ride to Atlantic yards. All the head honchos will be there; Ratner, Yormark, Wang, Snow and Capuano. As it seems to still be 'Matt Martin week,' both Martin and Frans Nielsen will be at the press conference at the LIRR station.

I'm going to get up early and see if I can actually get to Garden City on time. I have done so much complaining about the move to Brooklyn, it's time I see it first hand.

For those of you who can watch the webstreamed practice, it will start at 11:45 am with Group B on the ice. Check the Isles Twitter feed as I believe they are also taking questions for the broadcast.

This is guaranteed to be a 'full-court press event,' Expect to see details on every news channel and every sports outlet as it happens and immediately after.

Considering I got lost in the Bethpage Golf Course parking lot, let's see how I fair on the streets of Brooklyn.
