I haven't done a Q&A in quite some time and with the New Jersey Devils opening up training camp in just over a week, I figured I'd give it one last shot.

I took to Twitter to get some questions and have selected five of them to answer in this post.

From @WarrenGross: How many starts should we expect Schneider to get this year?

Barring Cory Schneider or Martin Brodeur going down with an injury, I think the starts will be split pretty equal. You could make the case that Schneider is an elite goaltender and at this point he is better than Brodeur, I think, but Brodeur is still quite good and can handle the puck better than anyone. Schneider may be the better option right now, but after all Brodeur has done they can't just throw him to the curb now that they have a better option. He's still a capable goaltender and will get his fair share of starts.

From @DHartmann71: Is Lou done dealing or do you see a possible trade/signing before camp?

Honestly, I think Lou Lamoriello is done making roster transactions for now. I think there's potential for him to invite a couple players to camp on a tryout basis and I could see him making a move or two during camp depending on what he sees from certain players, but I think it's unlikely he brings anyone else on board before camp.

From @NJDPassantino: You think Lou wants to see the D in camp before he thinks about moving one of them?

Yes, I do. If a couple of the prospects, let's say Jon Merrill and Eric Gelinas, have very good camps and force themselves on the team, he'd obviously have to entertain the thought of moving someone to clear a spot. These are two quality young defenseman and if they make the team they need to play.

From @JaredWhaley: Which d prospect breaks camp w team, and do they get meaningful TOI or do they get Harrolded?

If I had to guess right now, I'd say Eric Gelinas. Not because Merrill or any of the other kids aren't ready, but because Gelinas has more experience and is more accustomed to the pro game. Gelinas also has a booming shot and with Ilya Kovalchuk bolting for Russia, the Devils don't have many, if any, big shot threats from the point. Gelinas could bring that attribute. To answer the latter part of your question, I don't think Pete DeBoer and company would keep a young defenseman like Gelinas around if he didn't intend on using him.

From @DontTellMomesso: Will the Devils win the division? Yes?

I actually like the makeup of the Devils team. I think they have a more balanced attack, much better goaltending and there's potential for a young defenseman or two to step in and do good things. I'm also expecting Adam Larsson to make big strides this season. That said, given the Devils tough division and lack of a star forward or defenseman, I think it'd be a huge stretch to suggest they'll win their division. Will they be a good team? I think so. Will they make the playoffs? I think so. That said, I expect them to make it as a 6/7/8 team and not as a top-2 seed.
