After a few weeks of rumors the Kings officially announced today that rookie camp is set to open September 4th. They will also play a rookie tournament against the Anaheim Ducks September 7th at Honda Center and then on September 9th at Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo. Both games will begin at 6PM PST. More details are certain to follow.

Here is the official release from the team:

Also included in the press release is the commencement date for the Kings training camp on September 12th.

Time to start getting excited folks! Hockey is just around the corner. To me the opening of training camp is when it always starts feeling like hockey season. From there it will be just about three short weeks til the start of the season. The Kings training camp has normally spanned about 6-7 practice days peppered in with different preseason games. In the past it has been free to the public to attend. If you are looking in to going be sure to plan accordingly to get to Toyota Sports Center. Parking can be a bit of a pain, as can getting to El Segundo early in the morning with traffic. Early morning skates and practices have historically started in the realm of 8:30AM. More details to follow! I definitely plan on showing up to at least a few days if the commute does not kill me.

In the meantime I'll continue previewing the Kings Pacific Division opponents. Up next are the young and upcoming Edmonton Oilers.
