A handful of my articles this summer have dealt with Marc Andre Fleury and the different statistical trends that I have observed about his play. Today's mini-article will not be about breaking down Fleury's ability as a goaltender, it is to pass along the information that he will be entering the season with a new mask design.

In Goal Magazine has an online spread that has a plethora of photos with Fleury's new mask. You can find the gallery of photos here .

Here is a break down of what his new mask looks like, courtesy of In Goal Magazine :

“Just switched it up a little this year,” the always smiling Fleury said while showing off the new mask at the CCM Reebok Goalie Summit this week in Montreal. “It’s just a big flower with an old Jacques Plante-type of mask on top and ‘Pittsburgh’ on the bottom.”

Things get more even personal on the backplate, with his three-month old daughter’s name, Estelle, painted in pink on one side, the initials of his grandparents who passed away at the bottom, and a personalized logo on the right side featuring a Fleur de Lis, a Canadian Maple Leaf, a cartoon frog, and the Stanley Cup.

Will the new mask bring Fleury some new found luck? Time will tell.

Also worth noting is that In Goal Magazine has also reported that Fleury has had 2 inches chopped off of his goalie pads in order to meet new NHL guidelines.

Fleury has switched to a straighter, firmer pad to try and make up for the move from just under 37 inches down to just over 34.5 inches, and was talking about beefing up his knee pads. He even threw out Lundqvist’s name while playing with his strapping, a reference to the Rangers goalie’s custom bootstrap that allows more of the pad to sit higher on the leg and slide into the 5-hole when he drops, something goalies like Anaheim’s Viktor Fasth have since copied.
