A bit of a coincidence… I think not.

With Douglas Murray's ink not even dry the Vancouver Canucks extended Chris Tanev for one more season at a reported 1.5 million.

This makes me wonder if all the Murray talk was a smoke-show to try and get Tanev for less.

I believe since both were signed for the same identical deal that Vancouver was trying to force Tanev into taking less while there was still an option they liked on the market.

Why pay Tanev 1.5 million if you know that's all it will take to land Murray – who you could make a pretty good argument that he's a better, more accomplished player?

Now it's up to Tanev to play like a 1.5 million dollar player, which, by the way, I think is about 300K more than he should be getting.

So now that the defence is all but set I have two questions…


1- Is 1.5 million two much?


2- How do you like the Canucks seven man unit?
