New Jersey Devils: Expectations For Adam Larsson?

It's been two years since the New Jersey Devils won the draft lottery and selected Adam Larsson 4th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Over Larsson's first two NHL seasons, he showed flashes of potential stardom, but has also hit some bumps along the road.

In 102 regular season games, Larsson has two goals and 24 points. He also has one goal in five playoff games.

Throughout his first two years Devils head coach Pete DeBoer has had Larsson on a leash and protected him quite a bit. With Larsson entering the third and final year of his entry level deal and needing a new contract next summer, it's time for DeBoer to take the leash off Larsson and see what the Devils have in him.

Will he be a top pairing stud or an okay second pairing guy who needs some protection?

They say you don't know what you have with a defenseman until he's played about 200 games and barring injury, Larsson should come very close to reaching that total this season.

For the first time in his career he should be playing 20 minutes each and every night as well as see some 2nd unit power play time. With Larsson expected to have more opportunity, his production should rise as well.

That leads me to my next question: what are your expectations for Adam Larsson offensively this season?

Have your say in the poll below and in the comment section.
