The Philadelphia Flyers have not played a game in more than three months and still have a month-and-half to go before the 2013-14 regular season gets underway. The seemingly endless offseason has been a rough one for members of the organization.

In late May, right winger Jakub Voracek was involved in a car accident in the Czech Republic. His vehicle was totaled but things could have been much worse. He walked away from the wreck uninjured.

Yesterday, CSN Philly reported that center Claude Giroux will miss five to six weeks after suffering a freak injury while playing golf. Giroux's club shattered in his hand, slicing four tendons in his right index finger and necessitating surgery. He will miss the start of training camp but his recovery timeline should still enable him to be ready for the start of the regular season.

This morning, Flyers Director of Player Development Ian Laperriere revealed that he has suffered a relapse of the post-concussion symptoms that forced his retirement as an active player. Laperriere recently fell off his bicycle while training to participate in the Ironman Mont-Tremblant: North American Championship on August 18. Subsequently, the symptoms returned. Laperriere, who has raised nearly $14,000 for a variety of charitable causes through his participation in the event, tweeted that he will be a "game-time decision" for the triatholon.
