RDS reporting Sabres have signed a depth forward.

The Sabres have signed Jamie Tardif to a one year, two way contract for $550K.

He played in only two games for the Boston Bruins last season, however, he scored 30 goals the year before for AHL Providence.

I like this signing. Tardif has a ton of AHL experience, and like recent Amerks signee, Mike Zigomanis, will help to add scoring and leadership in Rochester. The Amerks will have youngsters Girgensons, Armia, Catenacci, Larsson, playing featured roles this season. Its good to have role models like Tardif and Zigomanis in the room to augment the veteran leadership being provided by Matt Ellis and Cody McCormick.

Matt Ellis and Tardif know one another from growing up in nearby Welland. Ellis, the new captain of the Amerks, played with Tardif in AHL Grand Rapids in 2006-07.

2013 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp on Sunday at the Olympic Center's 1980 Herb Brooks Arena.

USA White lost to Sweden, 4-2, after permitting two power-play goals in the final five minutes. USA Blue fell to Finland, 6-5, in overtime.

Four different USA White players recorded points and goaltenders Jon Gillies (Providence College) and Collin Olson (The Ohio State University) made 14 saves each, but it was Sweden that skated away with a 4-2 win.

Sweden scored the next two goals -- one early in the first period and another midway through the second -- to seize the 2-1 lead.

Andrew Copp (Ann Arbor, Mich.)/Univ. of Michigan) scored on a breakaway to even the score at two with just over five minutes to play in the middle frame.

In the third period, Sweden capitalized on a pair of late power plays to collect the win.

USA White plays Finland Monday at 4:00 p.m. EDT.

In game two, Dan O'Regan (Boston University) contributed two goals, Riley Barber (Miami Universoty) had three assists and eight other USA Blue players had at least a point in a 6-5 overtime setback against Finland. Justin Bailey, Sabres power forward of the future, recorded an assist on USA's game tying goal.

After falling behind, 3-1, late in the second period, USA Blue battled back and was eventually able to take a 5-4 lead late in regulation on a pair of goals by O'Regan, and single tallies from Hudson Fasching (University of Minnesota) and Tony DeAngelo. Bailey's helper led to game tying goal.

However, Finland recovered to knot the game with just 11 seconds remaining in the third period before scoring the game-winning goal 41 seconds into overtime.

Connor Carrick scored USA Blue's first goal and added an assist; Nic Kerdiles (University of Wisconsin) chipped in two assists to finish as USA Blue's only other player to record multiple points.

USA Blue will play Sweden Monday at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

Thanks, USA Hockey

Bailey made the score sheet with his assist. Bailey used hsi 6'3 195 lb. frame togrind and bull doze lanes to the Finland crease. he was physical and played with an active stick vs. Finland.

My brother in puck, Kris Baker from SabresProspects.com created this Bailey highlight reel from Sunday's USA Blue loss to Finland. You'll see Bailey use his long reach and fast feet to back check Finnish attacks. Bailey played extemely well in his first WJC training camp action.

Compher, 2013 second rounder, made the score sheet with his 2 minor penalties. He was a physical competitor and was active in all three zones.

Compher is a pest and an S'Der. Get used to hearing about him in this space.
.

Possler, the 2013 5th rounder, was held scoreless, however, he competed with passion, and skated well vs. Team USA White.

Nice body positioning and physicality from young Possler.

Thanks, YoBakes

Danny Briere made his first appearance in Montreal Canadiens colors this past weekend:

Thanks, Montreal Canadiens

I'm not gonna lie. Seeing Briere in Bleu Blanc et Rouge makes me feel uneasy.

I'd prefer he be hearing Blue and Gold.

You?
