Well, one of the worst kept secrets in a long time is out—Blackhawk head coach Joel Quenneville has had his contract extended through 2017.

Well-deserved for one of the best coaches in hockey. Casual fans so often point to the drafting of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane as the key factors in the turnaround of the Hawks' on-ice fortunes. But it can be argued it was the replacement of then head coach Denis Savard with Quenneville in 2008 that really got things going.

Certainly a nice way to kick off the team's annual marketing extravaganza, the Fan Convention.

Here is the first of a few installments of my Blackhawk All-Decade Teams, 1990-2000.

Tony Amonte-Jeremy Roenick-Steve Larmer
Michel Goulet-Alex Zhamnov-Eric Daze
Murray Craven-Denis Savard-Joe Murphy
Bob Probert-Brent Sutter-Dirk Graham
Bernie Nicholls

Chris Chelios-Gary Suter
Steve Smith-Keith Carney
Eric Weinrich-Dave Manson
Bryan Marchment

Ed Belfour
Jeff Hackett

(gets the nod over Hasek, because of how few games the Dominator played in the Indianhead)

There's my swipe at it. Sure many of you will have opinions . . .

All for now,

JJ
