To FLA- Cody Hodgson and Ryan Miller
For
To BUF- Jacob Markstrom, Ed Jovanovski, Nick Bjugstad and 1st rd pick

My Thoughts- Buffalo needs to get rid of the circus and from a lot of the stuff I've read, moving Miller and Hodgson is a good start to doing that. Neither guy seems all that happy there and they would both be nice fits in Florida, where they need a No. 1 goalie and a centre to replace Weiss. Buffalo gets a restart with Markstrom in goal and Bjugstad taking over the top 9 position for Hodgson.


To VAN- Gustav Nyquist and Jakub Kindl
For
To DET- Chris Tanev and Jannik Hansen

My Thoughts- The Wings have a million dollars in cap room and two RFAs that will be looking for something around that money (Andersson and Nyquist). Add to that, they are over paying Kindl by around a million. Vancouver doesn't seem close to Tanev's demands and they are also in need of another top-9 forward.

I've always like Nyquist and I'd be willing to take on Kindl's slightly bad contract to get him. Hansen and Tanev are great fits for the Wings and it saves them a bit of dough. Seems fairly win-win to me.

To WPG- Thomas Plekanec
For
To MTL- Evander Kane.

Frank0721 Thoughts- It's no secret that Jets are in need of a #1 centre and Plekanec can fill that role perfectly. He is good offensively and defensively. He would be a good fit to the team and in his prime for a couple more years. Kane fill the need in Habs for a good scoring winger. At 6'2, he also helps getting bigger and is also a natural offensive LW, things that MTL doesn't have beside Paccioretty.

My Thoughts- I think you're over valuing Plekanec here. Sure his talents currently are comparable (Kane is still slightly better imo) to Kane's, but going forward, one player is trending upwards and one downwards. I think you'll need to involve some picks and/or prospects heading the Jets way, but the framework is there I guess.

My Thoughts- I'm not a Blake Wheeler fan. I'll take Edler's brain farts over Wheeler's half-ass play. No thanks. And as sad as this is, Vancouver should be looking to add heart to the lineup; not subtract it.

My Thoughts- Come on man! Decent value, but do you really see the Ducks adding that kind of salary? They just dealt a young, 30-goal scoring power-forward to move out salary. There is no way they have any interest in adding 9 million to their payroll.

To BUF- Tatar, Abdelkader a 2nd(turns to a 1st if Vanek resigns) and the Sabres keep some of Vaneks salary

My Thoughts- Doing the math, the Sabres will need to keep somewhere around 5 million to make this work. I can't see that happening. I'm not even sure the CBA allows a team to pay that much and I also don't know why the Sabres need to take any salary back on a Vanek deal. He's a good player.

My Thoughts- I love the enthusiasm Sabres fans on this site have…Oh wait, you're not a Sabres fan. Quick get Buffalo on the phone. Someone actually wants Stafford.

AlexF's Thoughts- Phoenix gets an injection of drama that finally makes the other 95% of Phoenix residents realize there is in fact a NHL franchise located nearby.Vancouver gets peace, tranquility, and no more Luongo banter on Hockeybuzz (fingers crossed).

My Thoughts- No. No Gillis, no Luongo and no media means no hits for me.
