Pommer letdown?

A bit of surprising news for today:

Ryan Miller was invited to the USA Hockey orientation camp, and is the only one representing the Sabres. Former Buffalo captain, Jason Pominville, was left off the list and was not invited.

Seems to me like Pommers got ripped off there. It's not like he hasn't been producing points. He is 5th amongst US born players in PTS/G over last 3 seasons...

Pominville is dual eligible, meaning he could play for the U.S. or Canada, so keep that in mind.

It's still tough to imagine Pominville on a different team. I understand it was necessary to trade him, but he's a player I will root for regardless of where he goes. A very reliable and consistent player that deserves to win.

We now await the Cody Hodgson signing. This is an important deal, in my eyes, because I strongly believe Hodgson will be a star player for Buffalo in the years to come. Especially on a rebuilding team, I think Hodgson is going to shine and move up to the next level.

Capgeek is reporting that the Sabres have re-signed Luke Adam to a one year deal worth $735,000.

We all know how Adam has struggled so far in the NHL. He has 25 points in 75 career games, but a good portion of them came in the first half of the 2011-12 season. He hasn't done much since then.

He's still only 23 years old, and I think he's better than what we saw from him so far. He does seem to have an awkward skating style on the ice and his shoulders look huge, but he's capable of putting up points.

72 days until Sabres hockey. Coincidentally enough, that is Adam's number.

Here's what I said about him last year. This one is definitely interesting based on how everything has developed. Many fans have already given up on Adam after his struggles when he was a full time starter in 2011-12. He's only 22 years old and has plenty of time to show what he can do. I'll say that I'm not the biggest fan of Adam, but others have told me not to give up on him. I'd like to see a turnaround from Adam, but it's just hard to see that happening. Buffalo will sign him to a small deal as Adam hasn't done much sine the 2010-11 season with Portland. That year he had 62 points (29 G, 33 A) in 57 games with the Pirates.

I'm still willing to wait on Adam, though.

What are your thoughts on Adam? How much of an impact can he make at the NHL level?

As always, thank you for reading!
