We may be approaching the dog days of the summer, but that's not keeping Jay Feaster and the Calgary Flames from keeping busy.

The Flames have announced the signing of defense prospect Patrick Sieloff. Sieloff's three-year entry-level contract will carry an average annual salary of $925,000.

Sieloff, 19, was selected in the 2nd round (42nd overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

The 19-year-old defenseman, who's best known for his big hits, recorded 11 points and 85 penalty minutes in 45 games with the Windsor Spitfires this past season.

He was also a member of Team USA's Gold Medal winning squad at the World Juniors.

There's been talk by some of him fighting for a spot on the Flames roster this season, but personally I don't think he's ready just yet. I had several live viewings of him this past season and I think he could benefit from another year in Windsor.

Flames re-sign Mark Cundari + schedule released.

Flames re-sign Chris Breen.

Feaster expected to play it safe with T.J. Brodie's next contract.

A look at how the Flames 3 1st round picks performed in the CHL last season.
