Breaking news: The Oilers have signed KHL defensemand Denis Grebeshkov. You remember him, don't you? He had a miserable experience last season in the KHL, but wasn't a bad defenseman for the Oilers a few seasons ago. It will be interesting to see where, if anywhere, he fits into the Oilers roster this season.

You wanted a reclamation project, you've got it. Just add Gilbert Brule now and we're half way to filming The Longest Yard 3.

Rumors everywhere this morning that Kings forward Kyle Clifford is being dealt to the Oilers. I read one site that suggests the return could be prospects Tyler Pitlick + Mitchell Moroz.

The deal has yet to be officially announced, and some are suggesting Kings people are the ones spreading the rumor in hopes that teams will hear it and offer greater counter-offers. Quite possible this is the case.

As much as the Kings are considering cap issues right now and Clifford could be moved because of them, I don't see Pitlick + Moroz as an appropriate return. Both prospects had disastrous seasons in 2012/2013, and neither have an certain NHL career ahead of them. Clifford is an immediate NHL player who would be a great addition to the Oilers 3rd line.

Perhaps, and this is just speculation on my part, the Kings would want a more certain prospect in return like an Anton Lander?

Other suggestions/rumors today have the Oilers looking at dealing with the Wings, and the Oilers still attempting to sign a UFA of significance. So much for the idea of Craig MacTavish being done for the summer.
