The Maple Leafs shortened their list of restricted free agents to three as the club re-signed center Joe Colborne to a one year, one-way deal for $600,000.

The 23 year old former Boston Bruins first round pick scored 14 goals and 28 assists in 65 games for the AHL Toronto Marlies and went pointless in seven NHL regular season and playoff games in 2013.

The club also added some veteran muscle for the AHL Marlies with the signing of winger Troy Bodie. The 28 year old winger played 16 games for the Marlies back in 2009-10, and has since made stops in Anaheim, Carolina, Syracuse, Norfolk and Portland. Over the last two seasons, the 6’4” 219 lb former Edmonton Oilers draft pick has racked up 237 penalty minutes.

Defenseman Carl Gunnarsson continues to negotiate a long-term deal with the Leafs, but like fellow blueliner Mark Fraser, the restricted free agent has opted to file for salary arbitration.

The 26 year old Swede scored one goal and 14 assists in 37 regular season games in 2013 and one assist in seven playoff games.

Gunnarsson struggled with a chronic hip problem most of the season, but was still the most effective defense partner for Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf.

Defenseman Matt Finn, the Leafs second rounder in 2012, left the ice during the first scrimmage with an undisclosed injury.
