Prospects & Season Ticket Holders Get to know each other

Prospect Mini Camp Not so much technical training, but more a chemistry experiment and more or less personality boot camp. With this large group of attendees, there probably won't be too much one-on-one time with Jack Capuano and Brent Thompson. So for the coaching staff, it's an overview. For the young men attending, it's a new beginning. They may end up in the NHL or this may be as close to pro hockey as they ever get.

Whether they do or don't is up to them and their talent. Either way, it will make for great stories later in life.

Keep an eye out for MSG Varsity's Tom Liodice's article on the local Long Island boys attending this week. Defenseman James Mazza from Kings Park, and Joe Diamond from Long Beach NY will probably be featured so look for it

It was interesting to see Kirill Kabonov on the ice this morning. He looked like he was having a great time and had an ease of movement in that repaired wrist of his.

Griffin Reinhart and Brock Nelson were in the second group on the ice today. Having the luxury of already attending one of these last season, they could help out Ryan Pulock and the other 2013 draftees.

It was also a chance for the Season Ticket Holders to get a glimpse of the new faces. This is one of those STH perks that make some fans very jealous. I don't blame them. The Isles put out a nice lunch spread and had seats along the glass for them. How often can you sit right behind the goal watching pucks fly at the glass at 90 mph the same way draftee Eamon McAdam was?

Personally I am going to be watching undrafted prospect Mike Dalhuisen from the Netherlands and 5th Rounder Victor Crus Rydberg at the Orange vs Blue scrimmage.

I didn't stay for the media availability of players and coach Capuano. But Daniel Friedman from WFAN did and was kind enough to Tweet out some of the quotes. One interesting and yet not surprising thing some of the prospects told him was they noticed the difference in the speed and strength of some of the players

Griffin Reinhart knows there's a spot open with Mark Streit out of the picture, but he also knows there are a lot of guys who will be looking to impress and fight for that spot come training camp

Brock Nelson's improvement has really impressed Capuano, which will bode well for him come camp time. When Capuano was asked about Cal Clutterbuck, his answer was "Obviously it was important to lock him up. I think he's gonna be an integral part of our team. He's tough to play against."

And finally, Jack's thoughts on the newest first rounder Pulock: "High-character, mature kid. For his age, the maturity and the way he handles himself; very professional."

Make sure you check out the Orange vs Blue scrimmage on Thursday either at the Coliseum or on line.

Sideboard: So Art Staple was WRONG and Daniel Friedman was correct :

Arthur Staple Arthur Staple ‏@StapeNewsday 2h
Have to apologize and clarify a report from yesterday: #Isles G Kevin Poulin does NOT need waivers this season. Sorry for the confusion.

So, no worries for Poulin!
