Adam Pardy is now a Winnipeg Jet. The vet D man has signed a one way, $600K contract per TSN.

Pardy must have seen the hand writing on the wall when the Sabres locked up UFA D Alex Sulzer this morning. The Sabres also loaded up on defensive D last weekend in Newar at the NHL Draft when they selected Ristolainen and Zadorov in the first round.

Pardy's hope was to become a regular in Buffalo's top six when O spoek with him at season's end. He's better than a AHL/NHL D. He'll do well in Winnipeg where he'll deliver big hits and play his trademark simple game.

The Sabres D looks like this heading into training camp:

Myers
Ehrhoff
Weber
Sulzer
McBain
Pysyk
Ruhwedel
McNabb
Ristolainen

Pardy would have been Buffalo's 10th D man.

He would have played on Rochester's top pair this season. The Amerks are going through some serious blue line changes this week as they signed D Drew Bagnall and lost D Alex Biega to Vancouver via UFA on Friday night.

Pardy skated in his 200th career game vs. NYI (4/26)

• He recorded three blocked shots and was a plus- 2 at PIT (4/23)
• He logged a season-high 22:08 TOI vs. WPG (4/22)
• He registered a career-high two points (0+2) vs. OTT for the second time in his career (last: Oct. 6, 2009 vs. MTL , two assists)
• He recorded an assist in Sabres debut at OTT (2/5) and also at PIT (4/2)
• He produced nine points (2+7) and a plus-1 rating in 21 games with Rochester (AHL)

Pardy arrived in Buffalo last July with Steve Ott in the Derek Roy trade.

Darcy Regier has re-signed UFA D Alex Sulzer to a one year contract extension.

On Tuesday, Darcy Regier called his blue line a “numbers situation". At training camp, the Sabres will ice a D corps that consists of a core of Myers, Ehrhoff, Weber, Pysyk and the recently acquired McBain. Younsters McNabb, and 8th overall pick Ristolainen will slug it out for the sixth D. The loser of the battle will likely become the 7th D.

Christian Ehrhoff gets his D partner back. Thats a good thing.

Sulzer's offense has raised eyebrows in Buffalo since he arrived at the trade deadline in 2012. The Sabres like the value and depth that the 28-year old D adds to their D group. The Sabres have re-signed him as a UFA because they are impressed with his two-way game. Sulzer missed the end of the 2013 regular season after he underwent successful surgery to repair the ACL in his right knee. Sulzer suffered the injury on a collision in the corner against the New York Islanders on February 23.

Sulzer chipped in four points (3G, 1A) in 17 games this past season.
