It's here, the day that some Jets fans have been waiting for in regards to changing the look and legacy of this team from it's Atlanta roots. So here's what you need to know: expect change but nothing significant.

That's what my gut feeling tells me and no other reason, or source.

The Jets had trouble rolling four competent and effective lines with the bottom half being a turnstile of bodies compensating for need and injury. It's where I see Kevin Chevaldayoff making his moves, if he does anything.

I have no doubt he is looking and considering some of the bigger names, and hopefully taking a good hard look at Mikail Grabovksi and what he could do on the second line with Evander Kane. Damien Brunner would be another player fans would want Chevy to look at and I have no doubt that he will but there's a catch.

Chevy's mantra has been this "win at all cost but not any cost". It's a quote he has said a few times and some might not understand it so I'll do my best here to provide context.

My interpretation of Chevy's remark is that an organization should be doing everything it can to win but not sacrificing so much that it leaves the team decimated. It's exactly what happened in Atlanta from about 2005- 2009.

So looking at today, there may be a surprise move but I expect smart moves deeper in the roster that are not fraught with overpayment risk. While it's not the exciting glamourous approach to re-building a mess from another city and ownership it may be the most prudent one.

As I said to the guys on TSN Radio 1290 this morning: The Jets inherited a tire fire and it takes more than a bucket of water to put it out, usually 2-3 weeks of dousing. The Jets are entering week (year) three of dealing with their tire fire. Let's wait and see what happens in the coming weeks before we pass judgement on how successful the extinguishing process was.

Enjoy the frency
