Welcome to the Hotstove! As always, I'm your host, Travis Yost.

Just one day before the opening of free agency, the Boston Bruins and Dallas Stars got together on a massive seven-player deal.

BOSTON RECEIVED:
F Loui Eriksson
F Reilly Smith
F Matt Fraser
D Joe Morrow

DALLAS RECEIVED:
F Tyler Seguin
F Rich Peverley
D Ryan Button

The deal is one of the bigger ones we've seen in quite some time, centered around the swap of Eriksson and Seguin. The twenty-seven year-old Eriksson is largely considered one of the more underrated players in the league, and has averaged 0.83 PPG in his last three years with Dallas.

On the other side of that coin, Tyler Seguin. Seguin, the second-overall selection in the 2010 NHL Draft, has been sensational in his own right, towing a 0.77 PPG average since 2011.

Seguin's departure from Boston comes after numerous reports were produced questioning his maturity and focus during the 2012-2013 playoffs. Said GM Peter Chiarelli via Boston Globe prior to the deal:

“He’s got to commit his mind and focus on the one task at hand,” general manager Peter Chiarelli said. “He’s got to become more of a professional. And you know what? I can say that about a lot of 21-year-olds. I know he got criticized for playing on the periphery and all that stuff. He did. He’s got to commit to being a professional and focusing on the game. He does that, we don’t expect him to be crashing and banging. Just play your game.”

Boston got quite the haul for Seguin, but if he continues to develop, he could be a star at the NHL level -- if he isn't already.

The other pieces -- including highly-touted prospects Reilly Smith and Joe Morrow, and NHL-caliber centerman Rich Peverley -- only added to the magnitude of the deal.

So, now for the big question: who won the Boston/Dallas swap?
