And a good day to you all Hockeybuzzards and Hockeybuzzettes, especially my friends to the south as you celebrate another “Fourth of July” where no liver goes unpunished…

Welcome to edition 36 of “Who Am I…?”, the quasi-benchmark of trivial hockey knowledge in our little corner of the sports web-o-sphere. Before we get to my latest attempt to stump you hockey-geeks, here’s last edition’s solution:

1. My father was a professional player for over a decade but never won a championship. (Popeye Jones who played in the NBA for Dallas, Toronto, Boston, Denver and Washington)

2. My father was drafted out of college. (From Murray State in 1992)

3. I am currently eligible for the 2013 NHL draft.

4. My father is currently an assistant coach in an original six city, but it is highly improbable, if not impossible, that I will ever play under him. (Assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets of the NBA, with Brooklyn being one of the five boroughs of New York City)

5. I have won multiple medals internationally. (Gold medals at the 2013 World Juniors and 2012 & 2011 World Under 18 Champioships, and a silver medal at the 2011 World Under 17 Championship)

“Who Am I…?” I’m……………………Seth Jones!!!

Now I have to say, that was one that was either going to be very tricky for people or a complete softball……and ended up being the latter to the n’th degree! I had tonnes of responses almost immediately and got the feeling I insulted your collective intelligence dangling that one out there! At any rate, the lucky winner from all the correct responses came from Ann N. of Toronto who will be getting a Mark Recchi rookie card in the mail soon.

The kickback from the last debacle of course is that this round is going to be hella-tricky. When it comes to tricky, there’s only one rookie card that’ll do as a prize:

Love that guy…

So here’s the deal: Your five clues are below. If you can solve the player on the basis of them, email me your response at [email protected], including WHY the clues apply!!! Each of them. Just a name is not going to do you silly freaks. Eligible answers will have hit my inbox before midnight tonight, with the winner being chosen at random from the qualifying responses. You got ‘er Pontiac? (Ask your folks children of the ‘80’s and beyond…)

Let’s not waste anymore time! Here are this week’s clues:

1. I was born in Europe but never played there professionally…or, depending on your perspective, I actually DID at the end of my career...

2. My NHL debut is accurately described by the title of a solo song penned & performed by a member of the Eagles.

3. I won a single championship during my professional career.

4. I was a second round pick in the NHL draft.

5. In my career I played in a tandem with two goalies who made it to a Stanley Cup finals but did not win.

So there you are my friends. Off you go to solve what I hope will be a headache inducing test of your hockey IQ! Good luck!
