Will Barkov Be The #1 Center In Florida Next Year? |

If healthy, it is almost a guarantee.
If Stephen Weiss is playing elsewhere, who else would be the #1? Marcel Goc?
While Goc is a very solid player for the Panthers, he won't be striking much fear in the opposition.
While a surprise pick for many at #2, Barkov fits the exact profile of what GM Dale Tallon likes in a player, and adds more skill and size down the middle after adding Nick Bjugstad to the mix a few years ago. He could very well have the best overall skill set of every center on the roster by the time next season rolls around.
But the surprise of passing on Seth Jones all but guarantees Stephen Weiss is a goner via free agency, which is a sad day for Panther fans. But it is time to start a new chapter, and the departure of Weiss is certainly a fresh start.
