Update (2:32 ET): The Flames have contacted the Jets about Alex Burmistrov, according to the Calgary Sun.

I speculated he could be a target earlier (see below).

Update (2:28 ET): The Flames are leaning towards keeping the 6th overall pick, according to Pierre LeBrun. He noted that the Flames had talks with Boston regarding Tyler Seguin, but right now they plan on making a selection at 6.

Update (1:57 ET): Pierre LeBrun is reporting that the Blue Jackets are close to an extension with Sergei Bobrovsky. So there goes any chance of the Bobrovsky-to-Calgary thing happening.

Probably a good thing for the Flames given the price and money he'd want.

Update (1:00 ET): Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press is reporting that the Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets may be talking trade. Lawless speculated that the trade talk was draft pick related.

Rumor has it Jets RFA Alex Burmistrov may be heading to the KHL. I wonder if the Flames would be interested in moving one of their late 1sts for one of the Jets 2nd rounders and the rights to Burmistrov.

Obviously there would be no chance of a deal unless Burmistrov is willing to sign.

Whether Burmistrov is involved in a potential trade or not, we should keep an eye on Winnipeg and Calgary, according to Lawless.

Update (12:49 ET): The Columbus Blue Jackets are listening to offers for Sergei Bobrovsky, according to Darren Dreger of TSN.

The Blue Jackets apparently don't have any interest in paying the Vezina winner what he wants, which is $6 million per season.

I'm just thinking out loud, but would the Flames have interest? They're looking for a goaltender and have a ton of cap space.

That said, it doesn't make much sense to pay a goaltender who has had one good season, and a shortened season at that, $6 million per on a long term contract.

The 2013 NHL Entry Draft is finally here.

Throughout the day I will be updating this blog with thoughts and scouting reports on any Calgary Flames draft picks as well as any Flames related news or rumors.

As of right now, there's obviously a lot of chatter about the Flames. From Matt Read, to Cory Schneider and now most recently Tyler Seguin, the Flames have been linked to almost every big name who could be moved. They've also made it known they want to move up on the draft and would also be willing to move down depending on the deal.

There's a lot of balls in the air right now so it's tough to predict what will happen. Regardless if any of those rumors come to fruition, the Flames will be busy today.

It'll be fun to see what Jay Feaster and company have in store.

In the meantime, the Flames own the following draft picks:

1st - 6th overall
1st - 22nd overall
1st - 28th overall
3rd - 67th overall
5th - 135th overall
6th - 157th overall
7th - 187th overall
7th - 198th overall

As I said, I'll be updating this all throughout the day. It should be a fun day so stick around and check back often.
